Ontario Masters Graduate Stream
This is the immigration program in that has the lowest requirements for a master's degree in Canada. This degree also the most valuable asset in the world in terms of immigration. Ontario's masters immigration numbers add up to around 1,000-1,200 per year, and is open 2-3 times a year. Because of the increasingly fierce competition, we strongly recommend applying early, whether it is for a master’s program, or for immigration.

Pre-Master

Canadian Master Application Guide
Canadian universities offer two types of master's degrees:
Course-Based Master’s Degreeemployment-oriented, focusing on students' advanced skills and training for a profession. The course is mainly taught and usually lasts from 14 months to 2 years. For example: master of accounting, master of finance, master of engineering, master of computer information technology, etc. Most Chinese students apply for this kind of master's degree.
Research-Based Master’s Degree: research-oriented, focusing on training students’ research abilities. In theoretical research, innovation and other aspects of deepening. The course is a combination of lectures and research topics, requiring the writing of a large number of research papers and generally lasting for 2 years.
In general, applicants for postgraduate research degree (for example, master of arts, master of science, master of applied science, etc.) are required to submit a research proposal or outline of academic interests, or contact a professor before applying and choose your research direction or example, master of arts, master of science, master of applied science, etc.
Generally speaking, applications to an average Canadian university requires a CGPA of 80% or more. Top universities or business programs require a CGPA of 85% or more. Most schools require GMAT/GRE scores for business majors. GRE scores are not required for engineering majors, but there are bonus points for submitting higher scores.
Normally, Canadian master's degree applicants are required to have a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 (minimum 6.5 in each section), and some universities require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each section) for some majors. Students who have attended non-language courses for more than 4 years in Canada or other English-speaking countries are exempted from submitting IELTS scores. If the academic results meets the criteria for direct admission but the language requirements do not, you can choose to apply for Conditional Admission. General application materials include:
Application Form | Fill in the application form from your university of choice. |
Academic Proof | 4-year official transcript |
Proof of English Proficiency | IELTS/TOEFL scores |
Other Standardized Test Scores | GRE/GMAT
Other Supporting Documents | 简历、个人陈述、Letter of recommendation:(2-3 封)、其他学校要求的材料(Writing Sample, Research Statement等) |
Interview/Porfolio | Postgraduate research degree applications generally require an interview. Music and art programs generally require a portfolio |
Generally speaking, most graduate schools in Canada require the applicant to have a four-year bachelor's degree from a university, or to have completed most of his/her senior year of study, and to provide proof of his/her university status that he/she will obtain the degree in that year. In reviewing an applicant's education, the graduate school not only considers whether the applicant has a bachelor's degree, but also reviews the university that awarded the degree.
For those who obtained an undergraduate degree from China by means of "upgrading" from a junior college diploma, or through taking the national-level exam, only some graduate schools of Canadian universities recognize this credential. Most of Canada's top universities do not accept such undergraduate degrees, but undergraduate degrees obtained in Canada through "college transfers"will be given prioritized admission.
To apply for a master's degree in Canada, you generally need to have taken prerequisite courses in your undergraduate level. Almost all master's programs in Canada require applicants to graduate from the same undergraduate program. In addition, for some special fields, even if they have a bachelor's degree, they can only apply for relevant marginal majors. For example, law students can apply to a master’s in international business law in Canada, but it is difficult to apply to a master’s of criminal law or civil law. Medical students can apply for in master’s biology, biological engineering and food science, but it is difficult to enter the Master of Medicine.
With some exceptions, applicants can apply without any undergraduate credentials, including: Master of Business Administration and Master of Education; that is if you apply with, for example, an undergraduate degree in engineering, information technology, mathematics, economics, etc.

Classification of Master's Institutions in Canada
MaClean’s University Ranking has been publishing rankings of Canadian universities for 29 years. As the most authoritative university ranking in Canada, its ranking uses 14 data indicators from five major fields to rank three types of universities. All of the listed institutions are members of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. The number of registered full-time students in these universities is over 1,000. The ranking is highly influential as it has always been an indicator for college reputation and its academic level. To facilitate the distinction and comparison, MacClean’s divided Canadian schools into three categories: MD, Comprehensive and Primarily Undergraduate.
Doctoral Universitiesrefer to the 15 universities and colleges with medical and doctoral degrees. These universities have a long history, are large in size, have a wide choice of departments, are abundant in the resources of the school, have many research programs, and are well equipped with educational resources and facilities. The most distinctive feature is that there is an independent hospital in the school. In addition to a bachelor's degree, medical schools also offer master's and doctoral degrees. Many people think that these are some of the best Canadian universities, but that is not the case. Of course, entering a university like this isn't easy! Only universities that have established medical schools and doctoral programs and conduct extensive research can enter this list.

Although such universities do not have medical schools, they have a large number of research projects and a wide range of curricula, which offer bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. If you think these universities are "Canada's second best", think again! Look at the ranking of University of Waterloo. What do you think of them now?

As the name implies, basic universities focus on undergraduate education and only offer a small number of postgraduate programs. Generally, they are specialized courses focusing on several fields, and there are more practical courses. These universities are mainly for the training of undergraduates. In addition to bachelor's degrees, some primarily undergrad universities offer master's and doctoral degrees. Compared with medical doctoral universities and comprehensive universities, the classes are smallerCommunication and exchanges between students and faculty are more seamless. Some may think that this category of universities provides a better learning environment for students.

Application Process for Master’s Degree in Canada
作为专业的 education consultants we must first fully understand the clear needs of the applicant and plan based on yourcurrent situation作出相应的初浅规划方案。
